Root Canals in New Westminster

Root Canals

Sometimes a tooth hurts because the nerve inside has become infected or inflamed. It can happen after a deep cavity, an injury, or even from old fillings that have worn down over time. When that happens, a root canal is usually the best way to fix it and keep the tooth.

It sounds worse than it is. The area is completely frozen, and you don’t feel pain during the procedure. What the dentist does is open the tooth, clean out the infection, and seal it again so bacteria can’t get back in. Most people say it feels no different than getting a regular filling — just takes a little longer.

Once the inside is cleaned, we often add a small filling or a crown to make the tooth strong again. After that, it looks and works like it used to. Some mild tenderness is normal for a few days, but it fades quickly.

At our New Westminster clinic, we take things one step at a time. We explain what’s going on, show you what we see on the X-rays, and make sure you’re comfortable before we start. You’ll know what to expect and when it’s done, you’ll likely be surprised by how easy it felt.

A root canal doesn’t just stop pain — it helps you keep your natural tooth, which is almost always the better option long term.
